Mother “Wins” Custody after Hiding in Greece
Still Not Able to Protect Son from Father
MSM reports: “Mum Wins Custody Battle for Son”. However, it would be more accurate to report the judge finally decided, after a traumatic 4 years in Family Court, that Ellie would “not lose” custody as a result of her efforts to protect her son from his abusive father.
UK mum Ellie was just about to lose custody three years ago, because Justice David Williams discredited her reports of abuse by her ex and characterized her efforts for protection as emotional abuse. That’s when she fled into hiding, ending up in Greece.
And MSM omits the most important part: In order to maintain custody, Ellie must shut up about her ex’s abuse of her and her son, and force Olly to visit him unsupervised, whether he wants to or not.
That is not exactly a win but it is better than most women get in Family Court. Judge Williams continues to cover up paternal abuse, not rule in Olly’s best interest, and not protect him from an abusive father as is required by law and social consensus.
Mothers like Ellie around the world are being given the same horrible choice every day in Family Courts: allow your children to be unsupervised with the abusive father or lose custody.
In 2018, Ellie’s attorney informed her she was about to lose custody, because Judge David Williams viewed her efforts to protect 3 year-old Olly from his father as emotional abuse. So she fled to Greece with him.
The father and D.A. were unable to locate her, so her judge, Judge David Williams, lifted the usual reporting restrictions and got MSM to publicize the case and make Ellie look bad, in the hopes of someone turning her in. Judge Williams even tweeted about it, assuring her he would listen to them if they returned.
TWC found out about Ellie and posted the truth on social media, including a heart-wrenching letter she had written about why she had to leave [linked below]. In it, she described violence and abuse by her ex, including serial rape, severe emotional abuse, coercive control, and stalking. She said Olly told her about his father physically and emotionally abusing him as well.
After 8 months in hiding, Ellie was caught at a border crossing. She made a deal with the D.A. to drop her domestic violence complaint against her ex in return for the dismissal of the criminal “abduction” charge against her. At a Family Court hearing, she was allowed to maintain custody of Olly.
Our Facebook posts about her case got many thousands of views. The public outrage generated may have contributed to Ellie being treated much better than most women who run with their children. Most end up in prison and/or with supervised or no contact with their children. This is why women need to band together to push back against what these judges are doing.

Cindy Dumas, M.A. has been researching, writing, and raising awareness about the Custody Crisis since 2003, when she was unable to protect her children from their abusive father. She fled into hiding when Family Court failed her and was tricked into returning home, when her children were given to their abusive father.
