 Yet another father, angry at his ex after she filed for divorce, murdered his two children, just hours before a Family Court hearing. He shot 13 year-old Madison and 10 year-old Zachary in his Eerie, Pennsylvania home before setting the house on fire and shooting himself.
Melissa saw her ex’s rising anger over the six months since she filed for divorce, and especially in the last month. She warned him that his anger was “not in the children’s best interests”. She obviously sensed danger and would have kept her kids away from him, but was probably warned she would be held in contempt and accused of some version of alienating the children from him. Melissa was requesting a new therapist for the children, but the father was against opposed to that. It is unclear why Melissa wanted a new therapist, or why the father was against it, but that is consistent with the epidemic of court-appointed/affiliated therapists minimizing or concealing abuse or other negative facts about the father. Research and statistics clearly show that women and their children are in the most danger when leaving the father of their children. This fact alone should give mothers the power to keep children away from fathers when they believe he is a danger. But Melissa had no power to keep the children away from him without a protective order, which is difficult to get if the father has not already committed provable, serious child abuse. Countless mothers find themselves in this horrible predicament. It’s time women unite to take back the power to keep and protect our children—after thousands of years of patriarchal systems empowering fathers to the great detriment of mothers our children. Hi, I am a victim of domestic violence with 2 little boys. Abuser currently on criminal trial for assault and batteries on children while Judge Michael D. Anderson from Lowell family and probate court forcing me to drop my babies off every week to someone who beat up my babies everyday.
